Wolves Get Bulled Over by Rampage, 2-1

SAN ANTONIO---A third period flurry wasn’t enough to carry the Chicago Wolves past the San Antonio Rampage as they fell 2-1 Saturday night at AT&T Center.

Center Andrew Ebbett notched the only score for Chicago, while goaltender Matt Climie stopped 20 of 22 shots for the Wolves.

The first period ended up being a scoreless affair for both sides, with San Antonio (25-25-1-4) out shooting the Wolves 9-6.

By the time the second frame opened, Climie had not allowed a goal since late in the first period on Feb. 24. But Rampage center Greg Rallo ended the netminder’s scoreless streak at 130:12, redirecting a point shot by defenseman Zach Miskovic into the mesh at the 10:19 mark of the period.

The Rampage carried their 1-0 lead into the final frame but Chicago (27-18-4-3) potted a tally of its own when right wing Darren Haydar fed a pass to Ebbett who redirected the puck past San Antonio goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris at the 4:23 mark.

The equalizer didn’t stand for long though as Rampage center Zach Hamill scooped up his own rebound and beat a sprawled-out Climie (15-15-2), stick side at 9:36 for the game-winner.

The Wolves continue their four-game road trip against the Texas Stars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5.
