Wolves shot down by Stars 3-2

AUSTIN, Texas---The Chicago Wolves tied up the game at two midway through the third period, but we unable to take the lead, dropping a 3-2 decision against the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center Wednesday night.

 

Center Angelo Esposito and left wing Fredrik Pettersson scored for the Wolves while center Jason Krog dished out two assists.

Chicago (6-7-1-0) opened scoring short-handed, 12:02 into the second period. Esposito took a pass from Krog and ripped a shot from the left face-off circle past Texas goaltender Brent Krahn.

Texas (7-6-0-0) tied up the score, 1-1, 37 seconds later when left wing Francis Wathier found the rebound in the paint and pushed the puck over the goal line and past Wolves netminder Edward Pasquale.

Forward Greg Rallo gave the Stars a 2-1 lead when he roofed the puck over a fallen Pasquale 2:34 into the third period.

The Wolves tied up the game, 2-2, 8:45 into the final frame on the power-play when Pettersson fired a shot from the slot past Krahn, top shelf.

Krahn (5-4-0) recorded 20 saves.

Wathier scored his second goal of the night and eventual game-winner when picked up his own rebound and put the puck through Pasquale’s legs at 15:35 of the third period.

Pasquale (5-4-0) stopped 27 of 30 shots in the loss.

The Wolves travel to play the Oklahoma City Barons at the Cox Convention Center, Fri., Nov. 12 at 6:00 p.m.
