GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.---The Chicago Wolves came from behind to tie the score twice but never took the lead as they fell, 4-2, to the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena Saturday night.

Center Andre Deveaux scored both goals for Chicago (6-5-1-0), which was playing its second of three road games in three days this weekend.

A breakaway goal by Griffins center Cory Emmerton at 8:35 of the third period gave Grand Rapids a 3-2 edge that held up until they added an empty-net tally with 24 seconds left in the contest to bring the score to 4-2. Emmerton collected a pass from forward Ilari Filpulla at center ice and drove into the Wolves zone alone before firing a shot by Chicago goaltender Edward Pasquale.

Grand Rapids (6-3-0-1) took an early 1-0 lead when defenseman Travis Ehrhardt flipped a wrist shot through Pasquale’s legs at 11:22 of the first period.

Deveaux popped home a power-play goal at 13:18 of the first frame to even the score, 1-1. Center Jason Krog cranked a shot from high in the zone which left wing Nigel Dawes deflected and clanked off the post. Deveaux scooped up the rebound in the paint and pushed it past Griffins goaltender Thomas McCollum.

The Griffins pulled ahead again, 2-1, when Emmerton threw the puck across the crease and Filpulla was able to tap it into the open side of the net.

Deveaux bagged his second of the game to bring the Wolves even, 2-2, at 11:12 of the second period. Forward Michael Davies sprung out on a two-on-one with Deveaux and dished a pass across to the center, who wound up and blasted a one-timer past McCollum.

McCollum (4-2-1) posted 19 saves for Grand Rapids, while Pasquale (5-3-0) recorded 27 saves on 30 shots for Chicago.

The Wolves will play their third game in three days on Sunday when they visit the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center for an Amtrak Rivalry matchup at 4 p.m.
